The Eco House by Oakwrights
In the Eco-Zone, TJ Crump Oakwrights Ltd will be displaying a life-sized contemporary Oak Frame, to demonstrate how a modern building can be built so as to incorporate all the key requirements of the Code For Sustainable Homes.
The Eco House will show a sedum roof, which captures and attenuates storm water run-off, reducing the strain on local drainage, therefore mitigating flooding. There are Solar panels on the roof, supplementing the ground source heat pump providing domestic hot water and heating. Whole house ventilation systems, (with heat recovery) manage the interior climate, filtering pollen and by controlling the relative humidity limit the growth of asthma inducing dust mites.
The exterior enclosure system will demonstrate the Oakwrights® WrightWall breathing wall system using all natural materials which tick all the ‘eco’boxes – by using hemp fibre and wood fibre board, which are renewable, sustainable, carbon positive, have low embodied energy, and are completely recyclable. Clad using timber boards, this system can be built to passive house standards.
